Focus: User Research, Data Analysis & Insights, Speculative Design, Expressive UX, UI, Product Design, Mobile First
Role: Initiator, Researcher, Product Designer
Despite its essential role, the LMS felt unintuitive and outdated, and often slowed students down.
So, through personal experience and by asking and observing others, I uncovered the LMS shortcomings:
1.64
I often feel frustrated when trying to use the current LMS. |
I documented my own struggles while using the LMS and casually observed students as they navigated it identifying common challenges, confusion points, and inefficiencies:
3.05
Through informal observation and conversations with students, I identified key friction points not directly tied to the LMS, but to the overall study process and how students access essential information:
“I rarely remember course titles, I recall professor names and class days instead.”

“I usually just ask someone what the assignment is and when it’s due, I barely check the system.”

“I never remember the classroom, I just ask in the WhatsApp group every time.”

I created wireframes and prototypes for new layouts that prioritized clarity and ease, placing the true priorities of students at the forefront. I also incorporated speculative features designed to anticipate their needs.
Prototype
I shared prototypes with the students, iterating based on their feedback to ensure that the changes effectively addressed real needs, and then designed the final, ready-to-dev screens.

The redesigned interface is visually clean and significantly easier to use.
1. Faster access to a key aspect of the learning process within an LMS.
2. Clear, ultra-simplified navigation with a single layer.
3. Visual distractions are minimized.
4. Speculative design elements help users utilize secondary functions effectively.
